About Athlete Service

Athlete Service is run by two talented sportsmen who have turned their passion for performance and clinical expertise into a thriving business for athletes of all calibres.

Rob Griffiths

Rob is a former international lightweight rower, turned top amateur cyclist and triathlete. Rob has achieved top 30 results in numerous European sportives including La Marmotte and spent a number of years guiding groups in the Alps. On UK turf he has held nearly every local TT record and still owns the Henley Hilly 25 record.

As he transitioned into Ironman, he achieved top 30 results overall in Switzerland, Wales, Lanzarote, Nice and South Africa, qualifying three times for  for the World Championships in Kona. In 2011 he achieved the top UK amateur result of 42nd overall (5th in age group) in a time of 9 hours one minute.

Athlete Service developed from Rob’s bike obsession and pursuit of excellence in sport. He starting fixing, building and servicing bikes for friends in his lounge nearly ten years ago. When the bikes started taking over his house, the business moved to Highlands Farm focussing on bike fitting and servicing. The business grew from offering great service and advice to a growing regular customer base before moving to a Unit at Henley Enterprise Park. An endless pool was added into the offering while building a team of coaches and therapists focussing on  swim, bike, run coaching as well as Chiropractic, Physiotherapy and sports massage as well as adding Pilates and yoga into the mix.

In 2015, the team moved to the iconic Oast House in the centre of town. Here, combined with their sister company Henley Practice, they have a complete ‘under one roof’ model that covers all aspect of health, sport and fitness.

Laurence Plant

Laurence is a chiropractor and athlete. After graduation, he worked at a private practice in Henley on Thames – the perfect place to continue his personal transition from rowing and rugby, to triathlon and cycling. The love of triathlon has pushed Laurence to tick off some of Europe’s hardest ultra-triathlons including the Celtman and Swissman (where he managed to persuade Rob to come along for 13 hours of suffering!)

During his time treating patients, Laurence developed a passion for managing the whole picture – returning the patient to full health and better performance. Laurence met Rob at Highgate Farm and the partnership between performance and clinical expertise was born.

Laurence spent hours learning the art of sports physiology and biomechanics from Filipe who is a former professional world tour rider and leading international physiologist. He split his days treating patients, helping Rob build bikes and fitting them perfectly to their rider.

As Rob and Laurence learnt from each other, they determined to offer their knowledge and expertise to anyone who needed it. In the past four years, they have developed the business into a seven day a week enterprise, with a huge community of like-minded customers, colleagues and friends.
