Join us for our next power ride on Saturday, October 15 at 8.30am for a swift but social two hour spin with guests from Infocrank and Haute Route, followed by a seminar discussing how training with power will allow you to achieve your goals as a rider and excel in the Haute Route. Contact the shop for further information.
Knowledge is power they say, and in August we had a great ride out and talk with George from Infocrank, manufacturers of the most accurate and reliable power meters on the market, and Jim from Haute Route, the ‘highest and toughest’ cyclosportives in the world.
With a strong turnout from GS Henley stalwarts and those joining the group specifically to learn more about power training with new ride buddies, George and Jim lead out a swift but social spin that took in some of the best lanes and lumps of the Chilterns.
On return to Athlete Service, we dished out much needed coffees and cakes to the riders to refuel muscles and mind in advance of a presentation delivered by George on the what, whys and wherefores of power training.
Covering key points of such as the use of power zones, the value of the data you receive and how to interpret it, and the fundamentals of how power is measured, George was able to enlighten and educate an attentive audience. Some great Q&A followed the presentation, with George and Jim addressing hot discussion topics such as the use of power vs heart rate, ovalised chain rings, and the importance of accuracy and consistency in power meters on multi day events such as the Haute Route.
