Castelli have focused on two perennial problems with cycling jackets and jerseys. Firstly ventilation. With Alpha, Castelli have detached the insulating layer from the windproof layer so that you can open the windproof layer to let air in to ventilate and help evaporate moisture. This is very effective at regulating temperature and comfort while helping keep you drier as you build up a sweat.
The second area Castelli have focused on are the openings. At the waist a new fabric and construction allows the jersey to lay completely flat for a streamlined, aerodynamic fit. Dropping in to your riding position the fit follows your body position without binding or billowing. This same construction at the wrists ensures a perfect fit with your gloves.
Stretch fabrics with advanced patterning makes for excellent close to the body fit yet the stretch accomodates a wide range of body types.
When opening the front zipper of the jacket you get a blast of fresh air at the top of your chest, while the rest of your body remains warm. Ideal for when you've warmed up and you're heating up nicely.

Five pockets in total means plenty of storage for your long rides. 3 external rear pockets for stowing energy gels, bars and kit. 2 zippered pockets, one front and one rear allows you to stash phone, ID, cash etc.
